Bruce Kulick was born in Brooklyn, NY, on December 12, 1953. At age 13, Bruce decided to become a rock star. That was the beginning of a long and illustrious career. He has been a professional musician and songwriter since 1975. Bruce has played guitar, bass and keyboards for a multitude of platinum artists, including Meatoaf, Billy Squire, Michael Bolton, Grand Funk Railroad, and of course KISS.
Bruce performed and recorded with Meatloaf and toured the world on the "Bat Out of Hell" tour in 1977-78. After the tour ended, Bruce formed Blackjack with Michael Bolton and played guitar on Billy Squier's first album, "Tale of the Tape."
In 1984, Bruce began touring with KISS as a replacement for the ailing Mark St. John. When St. John's illness proved to be his end as Kiss guitarist, Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons made a decision that would forever impact the group. Bruce was officially given the job as lead guitarist for the Greatest Band in the World, and for twelve years he handled the lead guitar duties as only Bruce could. He performed around the world many times including stadium shows with attendance of over 100,000 at a single concert. He recorded and wrote songs on three platinum and six gold KISS records that included a co-write on the KISS' gold reunion release, Psycho Circus. Bruce showed the world that he could also sing lead on the phenominal song, "I Walk Alone" on KISS' album, Carnival of Souls.
Bruce Kulick has received many awards for KISS' video releases and concert sales, as well as a current award recognition as part of the Grand Funk Railroad line-up. Bruce also provided track research for KISS' Box Set that was released in late 2001.
In 1995, Bruce performed on MTV's KISS Unplugged, which eventually led to the original KISS members reforming and putting back on the signature make-up from the 70's. This left Bruce out of the band and opened up an opportunity to advance his career.
Bruce Kulick formed UNION with ex Motley Crue vocalist John Corabi. They released a combined total of two studio CD's and one live disc. Tours included North America, Scandinavia, and Argentina. UNION won Metal Edge's best new band award in 1999.
In late 2000, Bruce joined the legendary Grand Funk Railroad as lead guitarist along with original members Don Brewer (vocals and drums) and Mel Schacher (bass). Singer Max Carl (38 Special, Jack Mack and the Heart Attack), and keyboardist / vocalist Tim Cashion rounded out the group.
Bruce is currently recording and touring with Grand Funk Railroad, along with his many appearances at Kiss Expos and Music Clinics and other functions.
In 2001, Bruce produced and recorded his first solo disc titled "Audio Dog". It includes eleven songs, with Bruce's own powerful vocals on seven tracks and his masterful guitar playing on four instrumentals.
Bruce has just finished his follow-up to Audio Dog, entitled Transformer.
